Spacecraft Concept Design
At Stellar Engines we have worked on several spacecraft projects where the customer defines an initial requirement and then using that information we develop the initial concept definition. We have established a process that broadly follows the following steps:
Interpretation of requirement, clarification of goals, definition of higher order objectives.
Definition of science objectives and the necessary instrumentation and measurements.
Working up a spacecraft mass budget and vehicle configuration layout.
Calculation of vehicle in mission setting and assessment of performance and uncertainties.
Initial concept definition for vehicle and program of work to inform further research and development.
