Nuclear Fusion Propulsion
At Stellar Engines Ltd we have been developing an expertise in advanced space propulsion over many years. Our main field is advanced propulsion using fusion reactions, particularly within an inertial confinement fusion engine. Although we also study other types of fusion propulsion systems. Whilst the world is currently focussed on the development of a ground based fusion reactor to supply electricity for a national grid, our focus is on what comes next. In particular, the development of fusion propulsion systems will open up the Solar System and beyond to rapid space transport applications for robotic and crewed missions.
We have developed an ability to perform physics and engineering analysis around the following specific areas:
Spacecraft concept design definition from an initial requirement.
Calculation of spacecraft concept for different mission applications.
Definition of power cycle for engine flow management.
Cost analysis for program costs.
In addition, we are currently developing mathematical tools to enable the design and analysis of:
Heat transfer management.
Electromagnetic Field Coils.
Magnetic Nozzles.
Induction Loop Systems.
